First came in my mind, the resto I used to in Brisbane and Guangzhou,Shanghai, Beijing or Chinas’ Banana Leaf Restaurant chain per se with the singing waitstaff. Let’s leave that to another page.
Well, it’s a brunch treat. Hahaha, dishes in banana leaf? Incredulous... but it’s for real! First time so I’m so excited to dig in. Though my belly is screaming for some toast, a bowl of muesli or an omelette as it’s kinda early, have to try and be thankful for the treat and the grace.
Service was quick and it suddenly the place became so crowded. Oh, just ate quarter of the rice, it’s delicious but too heavy & really too early for rice. Dishes were sapid(though I’m still thinking in which particular authenticity the food belong- as not particular authentic cuisine, tending towards a generic Indian/ Malay)and nominal fare. I will not hesitate to have another meal here again.
should plan your visit carefully cause the place are quite packed and you would have to turn several times to find a good parking spot. but 5/5 for the food
Considered the newest of them, Raj has some serious competition when it comes to banana leaf rice. Nirvana and Devi's have been around for so long that it certainly would take Raj a lot to even be considered as an option. At RM 8 each, you get the standard fare of rice (1 choice only), a vegetable, fried gourd and cucumber salad with 2 pieces of appam (I know because 4more would cost your 40cents). Maybe it's been a while since my last banana leaf meal or the rain was adding to my hungriness that I felt Raj was a worthy contender to some of the best banana leaf restaurants in the Klang Valley.
Good place to try traditional tamil dishes . We had masala onion dosa and milo iced milk . Chatni and sambhar was also delicious. Chicken 65 was also good .
Busy busy place. We got a banana leaf, roti canai, Teh tarik and a masala dosa. I didn't really enjoy the banana leaf but it was quite interesting to see.
The banana leaf is beautifully laid out with all the toppings and side dishes. Roti was ok. My favourite was the masala dosa. The dosa itself wasn't crispy but what saved it was the delicious filling and the coconut chutney. Definitely worth getting again.
Good, quick service. In and out in no time.
The banana leaf dinner itself was average. Three vegetable items, rice and a choice of dal, chicken or fish sauce. Also had singe grilled mackerel and some fried chicken. Both of these were great.
Would go again.
One of the best banana leaf rice in Kuala Lumpur.. you also have to try their roti canai.. crunchy & soft.. overall Good foods & good environment..
Im sure many people have been here. It was our first time to this place. Havent had banana leaf rice in so many years (thats like almost 20 years!).
A friend who lives around here brought us to this place.
Simply loved it!
Their Service was superb!!! Fast and prompt. Cleanliness is above average for restaurant of the same nature. Reminds me of this famous indian chain restaurant in Qatar (the restaurant is called MRA, i miss your fine hospitality and your food!).
Foodwise: it was good. I had fish and it tasted fresh! The only thing, their curry was quite ordinary. Lacking the ump factor.
Price wise: it was around RM80 for four adults plus six drinks. Thats pretty reasonable considering each adult had chicken and one fish.
Had breakfast here..Just awhile ago with my father. Good food.
Some of their staff was nice and friendly to the customers.
But there is one “super polite” staff who acts like the owner of the restaurant. Shouting and yelling at his colleagues. And treating the customers the same. Running here and there with his Vadai. I couldn’t get his name..
Dear Raj Banana leaf management, please advise the “Super Polite” staff to not to "over" perform at work and teach him how to treat customers with respect.
I will be back just for your food not for your service. just 'TAPAU N GO'..
my rating is purely for the meal.
