The locals will definitely rate this place as ‘expensive’ because in KK, we are blessed with cheap, fast and delicious local delicacies. But this place is worth the price! I’m surprised (and kinda relief) it’s not being bombarded with hip and trendy millennials taking pictures of their food already! Located on the more historical side of the city, their food is a little bit more upscale than the usual noodle soup or chicken rice but they were served pretty fast, the salad and food ingredients were fresh, the taste was superb and as promised on the menu, the portion was just right. The service was professional, quick and friendly. We had Caesar Salad which was fresh, crunchy and sedap! Followed by Soft Shell Crap pasta and Trio Sliders burger served with fries and salad. I could only eat one and tapau-ed the rest. Oh and of course. Beersss at lunch. Everything was delish! P/s: Not paid or sponsored for this review but I just think small independent cafes like these should be supported more often than eating at the same big boring franchise.
I've been having both lunches and dinners here many times already now and it is really to die for. The food is delicious, fresh, tasty and prepared with plenty of love and effort, thanks to the staff themselves. My parents, brothers, sister-in-law and my other relatives, too, enjoy the food provided here, and that's what made us come back here to feast together time and again.
On the whole, Chopping Block is one of THE best restaurants in Kota Kinabalu and is a real treat for locals, as well as visitors visiting Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and the whole of Borneo.
Highly recommended!!!
Been to Chopping Block second time on Valentines afternoon, ordered ham and mushroom fettuccini, seafood fettuccini and angus beef burger. We asked to switch the seafood fettuccine from cream base to tomato base and it turn out lovely. Well done!
