Enjoyed the seafood platter so much, portion was enough for both of us. The scampi, fish cakes and fried squid were made to perfection, Bonus- not greasy at all. We also had the dessert deep fried Mars bar, crunchy and good portion for one person. Having vanilla ice cream with it made the dessert, unbelievably delicious.
What a find!!! Without a doubt THE best fish n chips in Malaysia (in my opinion). Generous portions, fresh fish and more importantly...the batter was light! So I was actually eating more fish than flour which was a delight. Reasonably priced too when u consider the portion and quality of fish. Loved that they have mushy peas too and other variety of batter. Will definitely be back.
You know a makan place is good when they get the simple things just right. Fish and chips is not a difficult dish to do but to get it just right is the hard part and in this respect Cor Blimey delivers.
Perfect batter, succulent, fresh fish fried just right so that it's crisp and crunchy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. You know the place is seriosutabout fish and chips when you see vinegar on each table and mushy peas as a side dish option.
Love the ambiance and its nice to be served and attended to by the owner. Definitely coming for more! Try the fried Mars bar. Totally not what I expected it to be and it's oh so good!
Huge portion served, almost everyone there asked to take away their leftovers 😀 The frying was done perfectly without the food being soggy in oil. The food was a little low on salt but that would be for the 'batter'(pun intended). Overall great eating experience 👍
Traditional fish & chips, except not served in papers. Fish is very delicious, chips are tasty. Need to up the service a bit, staff to be more knowledgeable on the background of this traditional dish from Britain. My husband who graduated from Hull University is delighted to taste the fish & chips with malt vinegar, salt and pepper.
Excellent food, nice friendly staff and very much feeling the fish & chips shop ambience. Feels like i'm in UK. Good job guys!!! Will definitely come again
P.S. The tartar sauce taste soooooo good!
Arguably the best fish and chip in town. Both the batter and fish is well seasoned. Definitely worth the price!
First visit at SS15 today for lunch proved to be a pleasant experience. Both the Haddock and Snapper were delicious - piping hot and flaky fish with just enough batter to entice the taste buds without overpowering the fish meat. Large cut chips (yes, no frozen fries here) were equally hot and goes well with the vinegar, table side. What's more, the mashed peas was more peas and less mash. Last but not least, guests were greeted with an enthusiastic but warm service by one of the establishment's staff (a lady who knew the menu by heart). Keep it up!
The service crew in the Damansara Uptown branch were really friendly and helpful, however the food took quite a bit of time to arrive. The seafood chowder was delicious, super creamy and tasty. We ordered a sharing platter that consisted of calamari rings, crab cakes, prawn fritters and fried fish, and the portion size was reasonable. Taste-wise, the batter was flavourful but not too thick that it buried the flavour of the seafood. Overall the experience was pretty good, and it’s recommended to try at least once if you like fish and chips. If you’re not a fish and chips enthusiast, this place may only be average for you.
One of the best fish and chips! Big portions and great service.
Serving excellent quality, authentic British food freshly prepared in a an extremely clean, crisp atmosphere. You can take away and they deliver from one of their three outlets
Ordered this via Foodpanda and I wasn’t the least disappointed the most authentic fish and chips you can ever get! Not to mention the portion of fish was HUGE and the chips were huge and crispy as well also loved the variety of batter to choose from!
Definitely one of the best Fish and Chips I've ever eaten in my entire life. Usually, I can't finish 2-3 fillet as the batter is very thick like even thicker than the fish. But the fish and chips for Cor Blimey, the batter is just nice, flavourful and it doesn't give you a very filling feel. Price wise. it isn't that expensive as well. The sharing platter with 4 types of fillet can easily fit 4-5 people at only around RM 120. It sounds expensive but you get for what you paid. Also, the calamari rings are one of the best item in the menu in my opinion, it's not chewy, not overcooked, also the batter was not thick and all.
However, I would say the bangers and mash is a rip off, portion is small and quite expensive for that portion. That's why there's a missing star in the eating.
However, this is a place that I'll definitely go back again, this is a very chill place where you can talk non stop with your friends and the staffs won't even give you the "omg-they-so-annoying" look.
I enjoyed my fish & chips at Cor Blimey very much. Most fish and chips sold in Malaysia have very thick and floury batter, which is crunchy and hard. The batter bulks up the fish and makes it look bigger than it actually is. Cor Blimey's fish and chips was much better. My cod fillet was firm and big, while the batter was only a very thin layer. Besides that, the garlic mushrooms were a winner – light and crispy on the outside, but soft on the inside.
I’ve always wanted to try Cor Blimey since seeing pretty good reviews from trusted friends and I had that chance today! I ordered via Foodpanda but from my experience today, I’d definitely eat in the next time I have a craving for proper fish & chips.
I ordered a simple dory fish & chips, plain with a side of minted mushy peas, curry sauce and a dash of malt vinegar. I was tempted to try the lemon & herb batter and onion & garlic batter but I figured I’ll start out old school. I would’ve loved the fish to be a lot more crispier throughout. Obviously, it spent some time in a closed box during delivery but the batter looked a bit pale and after cutting into it, the batter slides right off. The fish is cooked perfectly nonetheless. For what I imagine, must be frozen fish fillets, they do not smell fishy at all which is always a great plus.
I’m so happy they have malt vinegar for the chips! It’s a strange condiment to have with your chips over here but I absolutely loved it when I had it in the UK 2 years ago. I haven’t had proper thick cut chips drenched in malt vinegar in a while (personal preference, which I do not recommend following 😅) , and after smelling those fresh cut chips from the box, I knew it’s going to be good. I swear to you, there is a huge difference between plain old frozen fries and fresh cut chips. These chips were fluffy and piping hot, and it was everything I wanted tonight.
And the curry sauce! It’s strange but that almost neon yellow, mildly spiced curry sauce brings me right back to my student days. It’s far from being kari kepala ikan but it’s still very very delicious. I guess if you’re wondering what angmoh kari is like, you can give that sauce a go 😝
I loved loved loved the minted mushy peas! Again, this is another rarity in Malaysia and Cor Blimey does it so well! I also love that they have a couple slices of pickles with the meal which to me, is essential for fish & chips. I’m not too sure if they make their tartar sauce in-house but I’ll take that by the bucketload.
All in all, this was an excellent throwback meal. I’d definitely come back for the haddock and more of that mushy peas and malt vinegar chips!
Food is good and decent service, price is a bit steep for fish and chips but you get a reasonable portion. Don't have high expectations for the experience, its a simple fish and chips shop with a simple menu. Noisy when crowded and drinks are over priced. Go if you are into authentic British grub, avoid is you can't stand fried foods.
The fish is fresh and the source is special (I dip the fish and chips with curry source :p). Their Mushy Pea is yummy(must try this!!). Waiters are quite polite & their service are good too.Menu has better space for improvement. Anyway, gonna bring my buddies here next time.
Delicious fish and chips,
very fresh and service is good,
What i didn’t like was when i ordered chili lemon batter it tasted very mild and not spicy, just like regular fish n chips batter,
Hope there will improvements and set menus in the future as well.
The food is definitely better than what you get from generic Fish n' Chips places liek Manhattan Fish Market or the dreaded Fish & Co. The environment is quite nice but the highlight is definitely the vibe of the restaurant.Seasoning on the food and and menu layout can definitely be improved.
Good service, delicious fresh fish and a very homely atmosphere which makes us customers feel very comfortable. Totally worth the experience!
If you're looking for amazing and authentic English fish & chips, look no further than Cor Blimey. We had Haddock and Atlantic Cod served with mushy peas & baked beans, and the portions are HUGE! We absolutely love their onion gravy sauce and service was friendly & immaculate #luvyummylicious #yummyliciousburgers #yummyliciousburger #foodiebox #foodieboxmy #startup #startups #disruptor #foodindustry #foodtech #entrepreneur #entrepreneurship #entrepreneurlife #livingmylifetothefullest #livingmydream #adlinsarim #chefadlinsarim #jimmylee #changetheworld #cleanfood #zerohunger #positivity #gratitude #corblimey #fishandchips #atlanticcod #haddock #mushypeas #bakedbeans #oniongravysauce
Fish was cooked just right, could taste the freshness and texture was soft and moist. Had the original batter with coleslaw on the side. The fish pie was yummy as well. Excellent service. Will definitely be back.
We had the sharing platter for two. Everything was okay except for the rice - it was very dry and tasteless. The dory fillets were great - soft with thin crispy batter. At Cor Blimey's, the fries are probably the MVP - they tasted absolutely delicious although it was probably fried with old oil as it looked a very dark brown. However, if you like your fries crispy, these fries probably aren't for you. Would definitely come here again during my next craving for fish n' chips.
Had the cod fish and chips. Pretty decent. The chips were definitely the standout. They were the kind of chips that little baby potatoes dream of becoming when they grow up. Fish was moist and well cooked, batter was not overpowering. A tad pricey but it's cod so yeah.
