My first time and was absolutely happy with my healthy vegan choice..The wait for a table during lunch time is unavoidable but it wasn't that bad.. Definitely coming again
Good food, but a bit on the pricey side. Especially after adding on the 10% Service Charge & 6% SST. Yikes!!
And I love the pork buns (in the Light Bites menu).
Heard many of my friends raving how good this place is so decided to give it a try. True enough, it did not disappoint. Variety of food selection. I like their Bacon French toast with ice cream, sweet and savoury in a plate is a dream-comes-true. And do not miss their signature Vietnamese coffee! Yumm!
Bread is a yes, food is abit on the meh side...
When you walk around The Starling, especially if you’re chilling on the weekend, you know you’d always see a line outside Red Kettle. Constantly bustling, always full and long stretched lines so my first thinking would be: wow this looks amazing, I’m super interested.
I waited around 10 minutes to be seated and once I was, I knew what to order. For another 10 minutes, I spent my time trying to get a waiter and my friend even had to call one physically and even then... he didnt come until a waiter finally came. I don’t have much to criticise about the service but neither do I have praise. On one hand, the people at the bread counter were willing to cut my bread for me, on the other, the waiter was really confused to my enquiries and just kinda unpleasant..?
My friend and I ordered a Mocha, Rose Lychee Cake, Oats with Berries and Nuts & a Lime Juice and we also took away the Rye Walnut bread.
Now this is my opinion and it is according to my preference. I mindlessly ordered the oats, berries and nuts thinking it was granola and when it came, the realisation that it wasn’t granola but just oats hit me. Still, I ordered it and I wasn’t gonna let it go to waste. Unfortunately, I had to because it was just so... bland. This is actually my first time having proper oatmeal and I’d have to say... I’d never have it again... Or at least not from Red Kettle LOL. The honey didn’t add much flavour, neither did the milk. The nuts and berries were alright I guess but... how could you go wrong with just fruits and nuts lmao. I don’t like oatmeal so this is my PERSONAL opinion.
The Rose Lychee cake was... REALLY SWEET. If you have a sugar craving, you’ll love this cake but if you can’t take too much of sugary things or you’re diabetic... I’d shy away from this cake. I’ve tried their carrot cake as well which was really good but just abit on the pricier side...
The Mocha redeemed them tho bc I have to admit, their coffee was phenomenal. Their bread also was amazing. It was so soft and fluffy and even better toasted. It’s the type of bread that doesn’t need spreads.
Overall, it’s a pretty pricey cafe (after service tax especially) for mediocre food 🤷🏻♀️ I’m glad I tried it and I would most definitely come back for the bread! The food however... I’ll pass...
Had “Smoked Salmon and Hash Browns” and “Iced Vietnamese Drip w Fresh milk”.
Food is decent but the bread is a lil tough to chew (IMHO). As for the coffee, I presumed I’ll get to drip the coffee myself as its name nonetheless it was given as shown in the picture. Overall, I’d rate my visit a 4/5. Will visit another time for the rest of the menu.
Porkie Eggie Benedict came with a thick slab of pork shoulder; their baked eggs had soft boiled egg and sautéed mushroom in it, it was the best I've ever had so far.
Interesting menu, tasty food, friendly staffs. Will be coming back to try other of their foods and cakes!
Long q during peak hour but was welcome with friendly staffs. We order the carbonara, pork burger, pork chop, chicken chop & Chinese style pork dish with rice. The pork chop & chicken chop are cook in same style & sauce. The carbonara & soft serve ice cream is nice. Shall try out their breakfast meal in future
I ordered the carbonara, roasted beef sandwich and the cajun prawn pork burger. They all tasted amazing, but the cajun burger was the tastiest out of the three. It was savoury and spicy, and it was packed full of flavour. One thing I liked about the carbonara pasta was the fact that they used bucatini, which is a rare find in KL restaurants, as most of them use spaghetti. However I do find the carbonara to be a tad bit disappointing as it seems like they used a cream base rather than egg yolks for the sauce. If you are looking for a place to have a catch up with friends over brunch or even a quick lunch, this is the place for you.
Food here was surprisingly good. Can’t remember the names of the dishes we had but they were all delicious! We celebrated a birthday here and the staff were kind enough to provide extra plates and cutlery for our cakes.
Despite having to wait for 45 mins for my table, I would rate Red Kettle a 4.5/5. The food was amazing and so were the cakes. I will definitely be coming back here. I would deduct 0.5 points because their Hot Chocolate was more milky than chocolatey
Conceived by three friends passionate about good food and good coffee, Red Kettle’s menu is a medley of both Western and Asian flavours with a contemporary touch. It’s a place envisioned for families and friends who would come time and again to enjoy quality comfort food without feeling *Jelak (Malaysian) – satiated by a food, particularly a food that is too rich, to the point that one feels repulsed by it.
Really shocked by the bad reviews that this place got. I can't comment on the fact of that I haven't tried. But here are my thoughts....
I love this place. Despite being in a commercial shopping centre environment, Red Kettle managed to bring out its character in their offering.
As a Melbournian, I'm quite pleased to see that Red Kettle offer quality not only in the usual espresso...but they also offer high quality Vietnamese coffee style. Do try the "Special Vietnamese Coffee" (has eggs). It may not be everyone's cuppa but it has a uniquely wonderful combination. Their Guatemala drip coffee has similar taste profile as a Angel Wings by Proud Mary...so that's a winner.
What I'm pressed most is their Portuguese tart. I generally have a negative view of this offering due to my absolute love for chinese egg tart (Sou Pei Dan Tart). But I do really like everything abt the tart here. Buttery & crumbly base matched w fragrant egg filling with just the right amount of sweetness.
In conclusion...I'm quite pleased with the stuff I ordered. I'm keen to come back to try out their very good looking and promising burgers.
I am not sure why they got low rating, as this cafe serve nice and healthier options food!
Their bread is irresistible, their food (what I had tried) are so far so good! There's always a reason for me to go back to them. LOL
If you really want to have Your lunch or dinner here, just make sure you be there, EARLY.
Yes, I mean it. Early!
And, They do their best to serve you best even it is full house. Cheers!
Tried this place for the first time. Good food and nice ambience. Will go back again to try their signature pork chop! The only down side was that their whole range of pancake was unavailable during the time we went. Boo!
Serves good pork dishes, had their Bangers and Mash as well as Angel Hair Mushroom pasta. Both dishes taste good and to top it up, the friendly staff should also be given a thumb's up. While leaving the restaurant after our meal, saw some interesting cakes and snacks at their counter. One particular item that caught my eye was their Bacon Cheese Cake, which I will definitely try during my next visit.
Had their Vietnamese pork meatball sandwich which I find the quality is above average. Reasonable price, would definitely come again to try the rest of their menu.
